If you’ve been reading this series of posts then you will have noticed a theme of using weights/load/resistance to stress our bones in a controlled way.
Our bones need to be stressed to kick into remodelling, this is when they actively consume the old bone and replace it with new bone. If on a regular basis we use weights in a controlled way we will activate this process along with making our muscles strong enough to cope with (almost) anything we try to do.
Most people get scared when told to lift weights as they have the mental image of a big bulky (usually) man in a gym with those traditional weightlifting bars.
But have you ever stopped to think how much a basket of wet laundry weighs? Or that bag of compost for the garden? What about lifting that older dog into the car as you’ve walked slightly further than anticipated and they are tired?
It’s all weight-bearing exercise!
What would you like to be able to lift? Let me know and we can work out a training plan 😊
